VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Mandy Pickard (Hampstead,
Md./North Carroll) scored one of McDaniel's two
goals in a 2-0 victory at Virginia Wesleyan in non-conference field
hockey action on Sunday.
The Green Terror (4-3) got a goal in each half to earn its first
shutout of the season a day after being shutout.
Chelsea Baker stopped 22 of the 33 shots she faced
for the Marlins (1-5), who were outshot 33-8 on the
day.
With 9:45 remaining in the first half, Pickard got an unassisted
goal to stake her team to a 1-0 lead at the
intermission.
Just 2:05 into the second half, Brooke Dixon (Clayton,
Del./Smyrna) converted a penalty stroke for the
game's final goal.
Erika Wawzyanick (Wantage, N.J./High Point
Regional) made four saves for McDaniel, which was awarded
14 penalty corners to Virginia Wesleyan's four.
The Green Terror returns to action at home against Elizabethtown on
Wednesday. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
