GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Kevin Bowman (Westminster,
Md./Brunswick) finished third overall to lead McDaniel to
second-place finish at the Gwynedd-Mercy Invitational in
men's cross country action on Saturday.
Bowman covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 29:02.62 to lead
the Green Terror, who finished with 41 points – 10 points
behind team champion Gwynedd-Mercy.
The women's team finished fourth with 106 points running
without two of its top four runners and competing with just five
individuals. Ursinus, behind Christa
Johnson's sixth win in six races this year, won the
5K race with 41 points.
Scott Pusateri (Accident, Md./Northern), running
his first collegiate 8K race, followed Bowman across the line in
fourth place with a time of 29:15.30.
C.J. Naper (New Windsor, Md./South Carroll)
finished ninth overall (29:34.20) while Rob Kelvey
(Westminster, Md./Westminster) crossed in 11th
place (29:43.26).
Cody Crutchley (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas
Johnson) rounded out McDaniel's top five with a
14th-place finish in a time of 30:20.45.
On the women's side, Roxanne Fleischer (Westminster,
Md./Winters Mill) and Emily Peoples (Wilmington,
Del./Brandywine) finished sixth (20:45.72) and seventh
(20:46.38), respectively.
Jennifer Garnett (Los Altos, Calif./Homestead) was
21st overall with a time of 22:33.38 while Laura
Shinn (Weehawken, N.J./Pennington) crossed 34th
in a time of 23:42.04.
Emily Hajjar (Frederick, Md./Urbana) rounded out
the Green Terror competitors with a time of 28:12.21.
McDaniel returns to action at the Gettysburg Invitational on
Saturday.
