Coach Wood enters his 5th Year as an Assistant with the Green Terror Baseball program. He has worked with Catchers in the past, and presently works with Infielders, and has Coached 1st Base since arriving at McDaniel. Prior to his tenure at McDaniel, Coach Wood coached at the Junior College, American Legion and High School levels, accumulating 3 State High School Championships, a Conference and Regional JUCO Championship, and turned around a 0-15 American League program to its first .500+ season in over 20 years in 2014. He has coached 6 players that were drafted professionally, along with 3 All-Americans, Regional & Conference Players of the Year, and has sent over 100+ players onto Division I, II, III, NAIA and JUCO Baseball Programs in his 30 years of coaching.

Coach Wood started his collegiate career playing at Dundalk CC, where he saw field time at 3rd Base and as a Catcher in 1989. He was a Recipient of Deans List Honors in 1990 and served as a Dual Team Captain that year. While in his Sophomore year he led the Lions in HRs, RBIs, and compiled a .406 Batting Average. He was also selected as a 1st Team All-Conference player at 3rd Base the same year. Coach Wood finished his Collegiate career at Point Park College as a 3rd Baseball and Relief Pitcher, playing in back-to-back KIAC Conference Championships in 1991 & 1992, and participated in the 1991 NAIA College World Series.

Coach Wood attributes his love & dedication to the game of baseball to his past coaches/mentors; his Father Richard Seland, NJCAA Hall of Famer Elliott “OPPY” Oppenheim, and from Joe Schaly (the winningest Coach in Thiel College Baseball History, and Son and Brother of Baseball legends, Don and John Schaly)

Outside the game of baseball, Dale Wood resides in Adamstown, MD with his wife Lisa and three children, Casey, Vanessa, and Nathan.
