COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Senior
Alexis Keller-Posen scored the game's lone goal in the 51st minute to lift the McDaniel College women's soccer team to a 1-0 shutout victory on the road at Ursinus on Saturday.
The Green Terror (5-2-2, 2-1 CC), who are unbeaten in three out of five road games this season, picked up their first road win, improving to 1-2-2. It was also the team's second shutout in three Centennial Conference contests this season.
After a scoreless first half in which the visitors held a slight 6-5 edge in shots, McDaniel struck on the first shot of the second half, just over five minutes in as Posen scored her second goal of the season off an assist from senior
Carly Brock on a corner kick.
Brock picked up her team-leading third assist of the season, tying her with sophomore
Alaina Miller and first-year
Hariette Ngwatung.
The Green Terror totaled another six shots in the second half and held a 4-0 margin in corner kicks as they did not surrender a single corner to the Bears (4-3-1, 1-2 CC).
Sophomore
Sierra Ruehl recorded one save in each half while Lexie Albaeck had three first-half saves for Ursinus. Ruehl picked up her fifth win of the season, including her fourth by shutout.
McDaniel begins a three-game homestand on Wednesday as it hosts Elizabethtown in its final non-conference contest of the season. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. from the Soccer Complex.
