WESTMINSTER, Md. - In a back-and-forth contest that featured five ties and four lead changes, Swarthmore scored seven second-half goals en route to a 14-8 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Saturday inside Gill Stadium.

The Green Terror (6-8, 0-4 CC) were led by junior Emily Conklin who had two goals, one assist, and three draw controls while senior Kat Thayer had two goals, two ground balls, and five draw controls.

Senior Caleigh Kohr totaled nine saves, including four in the second half as McDaniel took a 6-5 lead with 2:48 remaining in the second quarter.

However, the Garnet (11-2, 4-1 CC) scored nine of the game's final 11 goals, outscoring the Green Terror 7-2 in the second half to pick up its league-leading 11th win of the season.

Three players combined to score 12 of the 14 goals for the visitors as Claire Long, Annabel Stifler, and Kate Fox each had four goals. Fox also added two ground balls, seven draw controls, and three caused turnovers.

Swarthmore scored five of the game's first seven goals to take a three-goal lead with 6:57 left in the second before McDaniel answered with four-straight, including two from Thayer and one each from Conklin and senior Addison Utterback to take a one-goal lead.

However, the Garnet scored twice in the final 44 seconds, the last coming from Stifler on a free-position shot with three seconds to play, to take a 7-6 halftime advantage.

Conklin scored 1:55 into the third quarter to tie the game for the fifth time before the visitors scored the next six, including three from Long and two from Fox, to take a six-goal lead with 10:38 remaining in the fourth.

Utterback also finished with two goals while sophomore Gracie Nash and first-year Grace Legacy each had one goal and one assist. Senior Bellina Sargo had two caused turnovers, but Green Terror were hampered by a season-high 21 turnovers.
