GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Senior
David Kearney scored 17 points to lead the McDaniel College men's basketball team in a 64-53 road loss to Gettysburg on Wednesday.
The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Green Terror (15-9, 5-7 CC), who are in a tie for sixth place in the conference standings with Muhlenberg. The two teams will play on Saturday to determine the final seed for the 2026 Centennial Conference Men's Basketball Championship.
The Bullets (16-8, 11-1 CC) opened the first half with a 6-2 burst, but McDaniel quickly countered with four-straight points from junior
Ryan Shaffer. A layup from sophomore
Kaydin Ford with 12 minutes left in the half cut the Bullet lead down to one, but Gettysburg responded with 10 consecutive points to grow the lead to 22-11.
Sophomore
Dallas George scored with 7:35 to play to pull the visitors within eight, but the Bullets answered again with a 12-4 run to take a 38-24 halftime lead.
McDaniel began the second half with seven-straight points to cut the deficit to seven. Baskets from Kearney and junior
Bruce Black made the score 44-37 with 14:40 remaining, but Gettysburg countered with six-straight points, expanding the lead to 13.
Three-pointers from Shaffer and senior
Matt Kearney down the stretch could not start the comeback as Gettysburg maintained a double-digit lead for the game's final 13 minutes to take the win.
Kearney finished with 17 points, three blocks and two steals while Shaffer added seven points and two three-pointers. Black had six points and eight rebounds and
Matt Kearney chipped in with seven points off the bench.
McDaniel controlled the paint, outscoring the Bullets 28-24 while forcing 13 Gettysburg turnovers. The Bullets won the rebounding battle 33-21 and scored 16 points off of 11 Green Terror giveaways.
The Green Terror travel to Allentown, Pa. on Saturday to battle the Mules in the regular season finale for both teams with a spot in the Centennial Conference tournament on the line. Tip-off is slated for 4 p.m.
