Noah Scores Again, McDaniel Beats Meredith 2-0 at Goucher

TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Charley Noah scored her third goal in two games to lead the McDaniel College field hockey team to a 2-0 win over Meredith at Goucher College on Sunday.

Noah took 14 shots for the Green Terror (2-1) and three shots on goal, giving her 29 total shots in the last two matches and 34 through the first three of the season.

McDaniel opened the first quarter with six penalty corners and eight shots, five from Noah and the other three split among junior Kelsey Jennings, senior Cassidy Cashman and sophomore Kathryn Morin. Three shots were saved while the others all missed wide to keep the contest scoreless after one quarter.

The Green Terror kept up the offensive aggression in the second quarter, starting with shots from Jennings and Cashman. After an Avenging Angels (2-1) penalty corner resulted in a save from junior Lora Scarangello, McDaniel got on the board first on a Noah goal following another corner. Noah's goal was her third of the season, giving the Green Terror the lead in the 25th minute of play.

The second half saw McDaniel take 20 total shots, 10 in both the third and fourth quarters. The third began with consecutive blocked shots by Morin and Noah, part of a seven-shot sequence in the first five minutes of the quarter. Sophomore Samira Morgan scored off a deflected pass in the 35th minute to add an insurance goal for the Green Terror. Morgan's goal was her first of the season and the first of her collegiate career.

McDaniel again took 10 shots in the final frame and kept Meredith off the board. The Green Terror defense did not allow the Avenging Angels to take a single shot in the second half to preserve the shutout win, 2-0.

Noah led the way offensively with 14 shots and three shots on goal, her second straight game with 10+ shots. Morin concluded the day with a season-best six shots while Jennings and sophomore Anna Buyse each took three shots. Cashman, sophomore Summer Gregory, senior Jayda Washburn and first year Caydence Stone all took shots in the win. Scarangello only faced two shots in the cage, saving both for a perfect save percentage.

The Green Terror return to Gill Stadium on Wednesday to host local rival Stevenson. Game time is scheduled for 6 pm.
