WESTMINSTER, Md. - Dickinson scored the game's first eight goals en route to a 14-4 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team on Wednesday inside Gill Stadium.
The Green Terror (5-6, 0-3 CC) scored three of the first four goals of the second half, but the Red Devils responded with five consecutive goals to quell the comeback attempt.
Junior
Kat Thayer had a hand in three of McDaniel's four tallies with one goal and two assists. She also added five draw controls.
Thayer now has 62 goals and 37 assists for 99 career points.
Senior
Allie Ballard had two ground balls and two caused turnovers while junior
Caleigh Kohr had nine saves, five ground balls and one caused turnover.
Jenna Nowland had one goal and two assists while Sage Whiteside, Delaney Herbert and Grace Kelly each scored twice as Dickinson (6-6, 1-2 CC) scored eight first-half goals and led 8-0 at halftime.
The Red Devils held a 17-9 advantage in shots in the first 30 minutes and forced 11 turnovers.
Junior
Charlotte Alexander got the Green Terror on the board with her 16th goal of the season off an assist from Thayer just 10 seconds into the second half.
After Dickinson scored with 13:56 remaining, junior
Mia McElwee scored back-to-back goals just 1:12 apart to pull McDaniel within 9-3 with 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
However, the visitors scored the next five goals, including three from Herbert, to take a 14-3 lead with just under three minutes left. Herbert finished with five goals while Nowland had six points with two goals and four assists.
McDaniel begins a two-game road trip on Saturday when it heads to Washington College. Opening draw is at 1 p.m.
