WESTMINSTER, Md. - Junior
Kat Thayer scored her fourth goal of the game less than three minutes into overtime to lift the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team to a 12-11 win over Bridgewater (VA) on Senior Day Saturday.
The Green Terror (6-9) picked up their first overtime win since a 19-18 victory over Swarthmore at home on April 21, 2018.
Thayer finished with four goals, her fourth hat-trick this season and eighth of her career. She also netted her second career game-winning goal and first since a win over Albright on March 13, 2024. She added two assists for a total of six points with three ground balls, four draw controls and two caused turnovers.
Thayer had a hand in each of the team's final three goals, totaling two goals and one assist, as McDaniel trailed 11-9 with 5:49 remaining in the fourth quarter.
The Green Terror trailed by as many six, 9-3, following Paige Mayers' fifth goal of the game with 13:53 left in the third. They scored nine of the game's final 11 goals, including the game-tying tally from junior
Charlotte Alexander with just four seconds to play in regulation.
McDaniel out-shot the Eagles 39-21, including 22-8 over the second half and overtime. The Green Terror also scored on four of six free-position shots during that time while forcing 15 turnovers and committing just four of their own.
Playing in her final home game, senior
Kayonna Cook led the defensive effort, finishing with four ground balls, four draw controls, and five caused turnovers. Senior
Allie Ballard added two caused turnovers.
Sophomore
Emily Conklin totaled three goals, one assist, two ground balls and three draw controls. Junior
Allison Utterback also had three goals and one assist while adding two ground balls. Junior
Caleigh Kohr had four saves and two ground balls.
Mayers finished with six goals and three assists to lead Bridgewater (9-7) offensively while Rachael Robinson had 13 saves, all of which came in the first three quarters.
McDaniel concludes its 2025 season with back-to-back Centennial Conference road contests beginning on Wednesday at No. 4 Gettysburg. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
