WESTMINSTER, Md. - No. 6-ranked Franklin & Marshall scored the first six goals en route to a 15-4 win over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Wednesday night inside Gill Stadium.
The Green Terror (5-9, 0-6 CC) were led by junior
Kat Thayer who had three points with one goal and two assists. Sophomore
Emily Conklin had one goal, two ground balls, five draw controls and one caused turnover.
Despite the score, the teams were statistically even as each had 11 draw controls and 16 turnovers while the Diplomats held a slim 20-18 advantage in shots and a 13-9 margin in ground balls.
Led by five from Rachel Jones, Franklin & Marshall (12-2, 5-0 CC) totaled nine saves on 18 McDaniel shots.
A trio of Diplomats had three goals each, including Devyn Crone, Lauren Pittman, and Myranda Beebe. Crone and Lydia Cassilly had four points each. All four players had a goal in the first quarter as the visitors jumped out to 5-0 lead.
Franklin & Marshall added two free position goals in the second quarter and led 7-1 at halftime.
Senior
Kayonna Cook finished with three ground balls and two caused turnovers while junior
Caleigh Kohr had four saves.
McDaniel plays its final home game on Saturday when its hosts a non-conference contest versus Bridgewater on Senior Day. Opening draw is set for noon.
