SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Junior
Caleigh Kohr made a career-high 15 saves as the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team fell on the road at Swarthmore Saturday, 15-9 at Clothier Field.
The Green Terror (5-8, 0-5 CC) tied the game at 6-6 with 9:51 remaining before the Garnet scored six unanswered goals to take a six-goal lead with 13:23 left in the fourth.
Kohr totaled seven of her 15 saves in the first quarter to limit Swarthmore to two goals on 13 shots as the home team led 2-0 after one quarter.
Led by two goals from junior
Charlotte Alexander, McDaniel outscored the Garnet 4-3 in the second quarter and trailed by just one at halftime, 5-4.
The visitors scored two of the first three goals to start the second half to tie the game at 6-6 following tallies by junior
Kat Thayer and senior
Paris Conord.
However, Swarthmore (10-3, 3-2 CC) scored the final five goals of the quarter, including three in the last 1:28 and two in the final 34 seconds. The Garnet also scored the first goal of the fourth to take their largest lead of the game, 12-6 with 13:23 to play.
The Green Terror would get within five with 6:42 remaining following Thayer's second before Conord capped the scoring with her third goal with 1:12 left. Conord totaled her sixth career hat trick, including her fifth this season.
Thayer finished with two goals, six ground balls, three caused turnovers, and three draw controls. Sophomore
Emily Conklin had four draw controls and two caused turnovers while sophomore
Emily Goodman had two ground balls and two caused turnovers.
McDaniel hosts the first of back-to-back home games on Wednesday against No. 4 Franklin & Marshall. Opening draw is set for 7 p.m.
