WESTMINSTER, Md. - Juniata scored three of the game's final four goals to post a 9-7 win over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Wednesday night inside Gill Stadium.
The Green Terror (3-2) suffered their first loss in three home games this season. It also marked the third-straight meeting between the two teams that was decided by three goals or less.
Senior
Paris Conord and junior
Addison Utterback had three points apiece as each had two goals and one assist.
The game featured three ties and two lead changes. After the Eagles (2-2) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first two minutes, McDaniel responded with three-straight tallies from Conord, Utterback and junior
Jordon Gambrill to take their first lead with 2:40 remaining in the first quarter.
Gambrill also picked up an assist on Conord's goal while Conord assisted on Utterback's goal to put the Green Terror in front.
Juniata answered with three consecutive goals of their own to retake the lead with 11:44 to play in the second before the visitors took a 6-5 halftime lead.
Utterback tied the game for the third time at 6-6 with a free-position goal with 9:21 left in the third before Kyndall Yeager added her fourth goal of the game on a free position with 49 seconds remaining.
Devyn Mauger scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 51 seconds into the final quarter. Junior
Kat Thayer pulled the Green Terror within one with her 10th goal of the season with 6:24 left, but Yeager sealed the win with her fifth goal with 4:25 to play.
McDaniel held a 24-19 advantage in shots, a 19-14 edge in ground balls, and forced 23 turnovers, but Mikayla Bodley made 11 saves, including seven in the second half to help the Eagles pick up their second win in two games at Gill Stadium since 2023.
Senior
Kayonna Cook had four ground balls and two caused turnovers while Thayer had one goal, one assists, two points, two ground balls and five draw controls.
The Green Terror continue their six-game home stand on Sunday, March 9 when they host Illinois Wesleyan beginning at noon.
