WESTMINSTER, Md. - Junior
Sidda Mitchell scored the first goal of her career in the 60th minute to lift the McDaniel College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Gettysburg Wednesday at the Soccer Complex.
The Green Terror (6-8-4, 3-5-2 CC) finished the regular season with back-to-back home wins and will now wait to see if they qualify for their 10th consecutive appearance in the Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship.
The win was also the third-straight for McDaniel at home against the Bullets.
After scoreless first half in which the two teams combined for seven shots, each team had seven second-half shots with the first four coming from the Green Terror with the first three in the first five minutes.
The first two from first-year
Alaina Miller were saved by Alex Jurow and the third from junior
Alexis Keller-Posen was high before Mitchell found the back of the net 10 minutes later.
Sophomore
Gabriella Piantadosi picked up her first assist of the season and the third of her career as Mitchell picked up her first career points in her 39th game.
Gettysburg (6-8-3, 3-5-1 CC) had seven of the final 10 shots over the last 30 minutes, but first-year
Sierra Ruehl stopped all three on goal to earn her first shutout in six career starts. She finished the game with five saves in her second complete game of the season.
First-year
Josie Scanlon made her first career start on Wednesday, becoming the 20th different player to start a game for McDaniel this season, and the eighth first-year.
With the regular season complete, the Green Terror would play again next Tuesday, Nov. 4 on the road in the first round of the 2025 Centennial Conference Women's Soccer Championship if they qualify based on the results later tonight and Saturday.
