BALTIMORE, Md. - The McDaniel College men's wrestling team jumped out to a 16-point lead and held off a late rally to retain the Crab Cup for the third-straight year with a 23-19 victory over Johns Hopkins Friday night inside Goldfarb Gymnasium.
The Green Terror (4-12, 2-0 CC) have won the trophy between the two Maryland state rivals every year since its inception in 2023.
Senior
Val Pryor secured the win with a 14-3 major decision over John Libby at 197 pounds.
McDaniel won four of the first five matches to take a 19-3 lead following a win by senior
Xavier Howard in a match-up of two of the top eight-ranked wrestlers in Region 3 at 157 pounds. Howard, ranked fourth, posted a 5-2 decision in a tiebreaker over eighth-ranked Freddy Pimental.

Thomas Monn, who is also ranked 10th in Division III, recorded a tech fall over Brennan McGrann with a 15-0 shutout at 149 pounds.
Freshman
Cody Johnson got things started with a win by forfeit at 125 pounds before senior
Alex DuFour posted a tech fall over Duncan Stadler in a high-scoring contest at 133 pounds with a 26-11 victory.
The Blue Jays (4-10, 0-2 CC) won three consecutive matches, including two by tech fall, to pull within three, 19-16, after 184 pounds. However, Pryor's win at 197 put the visitors in front by seven, 23-16, putting the match out of reach for Hopkins.
The Green Terror return to action on Thursday, Feb. 6 when they host Gettysburg in their final home match of the season. Action begins at 7 p.m.
