Third Quarter Leads F&M Past Men's Lacrosse in Season Finale

LANCASTER, Pa. - Franklin & Marshall scored seven third-quarter goals to break open a one-goal game in a 12-7 win over the McDaniel College men's lacrosse team Friday night at Shadek Stadium.

The Green Terror (8-9, 0-8 CC) finish the season with eight wins, their most since 2012.

Senior AJ Johnson and freshman Carter Youtz finished with two goals each while junior Jason Fritz had four assists.

Fritz finishes the season with 76 points, the most by McDaniel player since Rob Weaver had 77 in 2004.

The game featured four ties and four lead changes over the first 26 minutes with the Diplomats taking a 5-4 halftime lead.

Franklin & Marshall (7-10, 1-7 CC) scored the first five goals of the third quarter, including four by Kai Kelly to take a 10-4 advantage with 8:48 remaining.

Youtz snapped a 20-minute scoreless drought for the visitors with 2:45 left in the third, but the Diplomats scored two goals in the final 12 seconds of the quarter to take their largest lead, 12-5.

After freshman Aidan Skelly gave the Green Terror a 4-3 lead with 7:07 left in the second quarter, F&M scored nine of the next 10 goals to build its seven goal lead.

The Diplomats outscored McDaniel, 10-2 over the second and third quarters.

Graduate student Brighton Lorber made 12 saves in his final game, finishing the season with 209. He concludes his career with a school record 828 saves, the second-most in Centennial Conference history.

Freshman Brexton Carter had five ground balls and two caused turnovers while graduate student Luke Patterson had three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
