First Half Carries Ursinus to Victory Over Women's Lacrosse

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Ursinus scored the game's first eight goals en route to an 18-8 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Saturday at Gill Stadium.

The Green Terror (6-4, 1-1 CC), who had won the last three home games in the series against the Bears, were led by a career-high four goals from junior Paris Conord.

Senior Emma Miller added three goals and now has 45 this season, the most in a single season in six years since Emily Brownawell and Olivia Geiger had 52 and 49, respectively, in 2018.

Led by four saves from sophomore Caleigh Kohr, McDaniel limited Ursinus to just three on nine shots in the first quarter before the visitors scored six in the second. Miller got McDaniel on the board with 3:56 remaining before the Bears scored with just 11 seconds left to take a 9-1 halftime lead.

Mary Michaud had two goals and one assist for the visitors while her sister Jaime Michaud added two goals.

Conord started the scoring just 26 seconds into the second half, but Ursinus (6-4, 1-1 CC) responded with the next three to take its largest lead, 12-2, midway through the third.

Conord scored two goals in the third and two in the fourth, but the Green Terror could not get closer than eight following back-to-back tallies by Conord and Miller with 8:50 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Sophomore Addison Utterback was other goal scorer for McDaniel while senior Gaby Kohr added two assists to increase her season total to a team-high 20.

Caleigh Kohr finished with 10 saves to lead the defense while sophomore Kat Thayer had four ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers. Senior Emma Legacy totaled one assist, five draw controls and one caused turnover.

The Green Terror travel to No. 5 Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
