HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The McDaniel College women's lacrosse team scored four of the game's first five goals and never trailed en route to a 14-11 victory Wednesday at Gibbel Stadium.
The Green Terror (5-3) avenged last year's 12-10 loss and handed the Eagles their first loss in seven games this season.
Senior
Emma Miller led the way with five goals and six points, scoring at least five goals for the sixth time in eight games this season. Senior
Emma Legacy also netted a hat-trick, her fifth this season, with three goals.
Four different players scored, including sophomores
Kat Thayer and
Addison Utterback who each had one goal and one assist, as McDaniel jumped out to a 4-1 lead with 10:08 remaining in the second quarter.
Miller scored her second goal and sophomore
Mia McElwee added her fourth goal in the last three games as the Green Terror led 7-6 at halftime.
McDaniel maintained its one-goal lead before scoring the first three goals of the fourth quarter, including two from Legacy and one from Miller to take its largest lead, 13-9 with 9:28 left.
Utterback finished with two goals and one assist while Thayer added one goal and two assists. Legacy, Thayer and Miller combined for all 14 of the team's draw controls with Legacy and Thayer totaling five each.
Defensively, junior
Sadie Bowman led the team with four caused turnovers and three ground balls. Freshman
Emily Conklin added three caused turnovers and two ground balls. In goal, sophomore
Caleigh Kohr made eight saves.
The Green Terror look for their second-straight road win on Saturday when they open Centennial Conference play at Bryn Mawr. Opening draw is set for noon.
