Angalyn Strouse, the McDaniel College volleyball team closed out the 2024 season with a Centennial Conference sweep over Bryn Mawr at home on Senior Day, 25-21, 25-22, 25-14.
The Green Terror (11-12, 1-9 CC) posted their 11th consecutive victory over the Owls and fifth in-a-row at home.
Strouse had 10 or more kills for the third-time this season while graduate student
Nia Roberts added nine kills and three block assists. Senior
Katherine Taveras added seven digs and senior
Allyson Burgee had five kills, a .429 hitting percentage, and two service aces.
With seven digs, Taveras finished her career with 1,080 digs, ranking her 11th on the program's all-time list.
Freshman
Kaylee Comstock totaled two kills, 29 assists, five service aces and eight digs. The Centennial Conference leader in service aces finished her first season with 61.
Bryn Mawr (4-19, 0-10 CC) scored the first six points of the first set and led 11-4 before McDaniel responded with an 11-4 run to tie the match at 15-15. The set featured four ties, the last at 21-21 before the Green Terror scored the final four points, including two on a kill and service ace by Burgee.
The second set was the most tightly contested with nine ties and three lead changes. With the score tied at 10-10, the Owls scored eight of the next 10 points to take their largest lead, 18-12, before a 6-0 run by McDaniel tied the set for the fifth time, 18-18. The set would feature four more ties before the Green Terror scored the final three points, including the last two on kills by Strouse.
McDaniel never trailed in the third set, leading by as many as 10 points on two separate occasions. Roberts totaled four kills on seven attempts while Comstock added three service aces.
