WESTMINSTER, Md. - Ursinus scored 35 second-half points to break open a one score game en route to a 42-0 victory over the McDaniel College football team Saturday on Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium on Homecoming.
The Green Terror (1-7 0-5 CC) limited the Bears to just seven first-half points, holding the visitors scoreless until the 1:42 mark of the second quarter. Ursinus came into the game averaging 38.0 points per game.
In his first career start, freshman
Jacob Wagner had 22 yards rushing, averaging 3.7 yards per carry. Sophomore
David Webster had 41 yards receiving while junior
Christian Homer totaled 71 yards on three kickoff returns. Homer also had four tackles, including one for loss and three pass breakups.
Neither team scored on their first five possessions until Ursinus (7-1, 3-1 CC) drove 49 yards on six plays to break a scoreless tie on an 8-yard pass from Jalen Bradford to Justin Collier with 1:42 remaining until halftime.
The visitors maintained their one-score lead until midway through the third quarter when Bradford scored on an 8-yard run with 6:10 left in the third quarter. The touchdown was the first of five second-half touchdowns for the Bears who scored on five of their seven possessions.
Ursinus totaled 498 yards of total offense, running 84 plays and totaling over 36 minutes in time of possession.
Meanwhile, the Bears' defense forced 10 punts and four turnovers, limiting McDaniel to 61 yards of total offense.
Senior
Bailey Himes had 11 tackles for the Green Terror with eight solo, while five players totaled seven tackles each, including senior
Mike Cunningham who added one for loss and one fumble recovery.
McDaniel heads to Salisbury next Saturday, Nov. 9 to face the seventh-ranked Sea Gulls in their final road game of the 2024 season. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
