Fourth Quarter Surge Leads No. 12 Bryn Mawr Past McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. - No. 12 Bryn Mawr scored three fourth-quarter goals to escape with a 3-1 road win against the McDaniel College field hockey team at Gill Stadium on Saturday.

McDaniel (3-14, 0-10 CC) took 10 penalty corners, its second consecutive contest with double-digit corner attempts.

The Green Terror out-shot the Owls (13-5, 6-4 CC) through three quarters, 9-8, but Bryn Mawr controlled the final frame with four shots and three penalty corners.

Senior Amy Richenderfer scored her second goal of the season midway through the third quarter when she scored off a rebound in front after an initial shot from senior Morgan Collins was saved.

McDaniel maintained its one-goal lead through the third quarter after holding a 6-3 advantage in shots.

Sophie Vaghts tied the game less than two minutes into the fourth quarter off an assist from Jasmine Peterson before Hazel Miller redirected a high shot into the net for another Owl goal.

Four minutes later, Novy Goetgeluk finished the scoring on a penalty stroke with three minutes remaining.

With the win, Bryn Mawr clinched a spot in next week's 2024 Centennial Conference Field Hockey Championship.
