CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The McDaniel College field hockey team fell on the road at Washington College Wednesday, dropping a 5-0 decision to the Shorewomen at Roy Kirby Jr Stadium.
The Green Terror (2-7, 0-2 CC) were led by eight saves from freshman
Teaghen Rieder and a defensive save by senior
Justice Washburn.
Washburn has had a defensive save in two of the team's last three games. She is second on the team with two this season, tying her with classmate
Morgan Collins. Senior
Tori McArthur leads the team with four.
The game was scoreless through the first 10 minutes before Kat Esposito scored the first of her two goals with 4:35 left in the opening quarter to give Washington (6-4, 1-1 CC) the early lead.
Despite the Shorewomen totaling 17 shots in the first half, their one-goal lead last until early in the third quarter when they added a second to double their lead through three.
Rieder made all eight of her saves in the first 45 minutes while Washburn added her defensive save in the second quarter.
Washington sealed the win with three goals in the fourth to secure its first Centennial Conference victory of the season.
McDaniel continues its three-game road trip on Saturday when they head to Collegeville, Pennsylvania to take on Ursinus. Game time is at noon.
