WASHINGTON, D.C. - A trio of swimmers each posted two individual wins as the McDaniel College women's swimming team swept a tri-meet against Goucher and host Gallaudet Saturday.
Junior Amanda Thompson, sophomore Jane Walkinshaw and freshman Reagan Farris each posted two individual wins as the Green Terror (3-9) posted a 95-89 win over Goucher and a 128-50 decision against Gallaudet.
Thompson finished first in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:40.13 before winning the 100-yard butterfly in 1:07.76. Walkinshaw touched the wall first in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:20.13 and won the 500-yard freestyle with a mark of 6:10.00.
Farris finished first in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.60 seconds and first in the 100-yard freestyle with a mark of 59.20 seconds.
With Goucher holding a slim lead headed into the final event, the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of Thompson, Walkinshaw, Farris and junior Jolie Gray finished the first with a time of 4:19.67 which secured the meet victory over the Gophers.
Gray came in third in the 50 free and fifth in the 100-yard backstroke.
Sophomore Mackenzie Skelton finished second in the 500 free with a time of 6:51.61 while junior Tori McArthur placed second in the 100 back in 1:00.39. McArthur also took third in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:25.06 and fourth in the 100-yard IM in 1:17.45.
Sophomore Britney Ramirez posted a trio of sixth-place finishes in the 100 and 200 free and 100 IM.
In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Skelton, Ramirez, freshman Melissa Deedy, and freshman Natalie Hutchinson placed second with a time of 2:12.00.
McDaniel returns to action next Saturday, Feb. 3 in a Centennial Conference dual meet at Dickinson beginning at 1 p.m.
