WESTMINSTER, Md. - Senior Abby Cook posted two first-place finishes as the McDaniel College women's swimming team totaled a season-high 114 points Saturday in dual meet against Hood at Harlow Pool on Senior Day.
The Green Terror posted seven individual win and one relay victory, but were edged by just five points in a `119-114 decision.
Prior to the meet, the team honored Cook who went on to finish first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:07.95 and first in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.11 seconds.
Junior Amanda Thompson won three events, collecting wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke and 500-yard freestyle. She touched the wall first in the 1,000 free with a time of 11:36.05 and first in the 500 free in 5:41.62. She finished first in the 200 back in 2:22.94.
Sophomore Jane Walkinshaw won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 1:02.27 while freshman Reagan Farris won the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:13.17. Walkinshaw also placed second in the 200-yard freestyle in 2:18.66 while Farris touched second in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:53.53.
The team of Walkinshaw, Cook, Farris, and Thompson touched first in the 200-yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:33.85. Cook, Walkinshaw, Farris and junior Tori McArthur, placed second in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 2:10.23.
McArthur came in second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 3:06.92, third in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 200-yard individual medley.
Freshman Natalie Hutchinson had three fourth-place finishes in the 200 breast, 100 back and 200 free while junior Jolie Gray finished fourth in the 50 free and 100 free.
Freshman Melissa Deedy placed fourth in the 100 back and fifth in the 50 free and 100 free. Sophomore Britney Ramirez finished fifth in the 200 free and 100 back.
McDaniel returns to action on Jan. 27 in the Stevenson Invitational at the McDonogh School beginning at 2:30 p.m.
