Box Score PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. - The McDaniel College volleyball team totaled 20 service aces as the team posted a 25-13, 25-7, 25-13 non-conference victory over Valley Forge Friday night.
The Green Terror (9-3) posted their third win in four road games this season.
Sophomore
Kenzie Mitchell finished with seven kills and a .545 hitting percentage while freshman
Hannah Waters had two kills, eight assists, eight service aces and five digs. Senior
Lauren Guyer added five service aces and freshman
Brynn Swisher totaled four assists, three service aces and two digs.
The first set began with a six-point run from McDaniel, including three-straight aces from Waters. The Patriots rallied and cut the lead to one point before both teams battled back-and-forth until the Green Terror built a seven-point advantage. Sophomore
Kailey Young connected on a kill from Swisher before a kill from freshman
Abigayle Bowley stretched the lead to 18-7.
From there, McDaniel pulled away and closed out the first set with a kill from Mitchell.
The Green Terror kept rolling in the second set with a trio of aces from Guyer to build a 7-1 lead. Waters
found sophomore
Emily Osborne for a kill to push the lead to 12-1. The Lady Patriots managed to score a couple points, but the Green Terror kept rolling with back-to-back service aces from Swisher.
Mitchell closed out the 18-point victory with a kill from Waters.
With an early four point lead in the third, McDaniel looked to fifth straight sets win in nine victories this season. Mitchell and Bowley added kills to extend the lead to eight before senior
Nia Roberts and freshman
Abigail May connected on kills to put the set out of reach.
McDaniel opens Centennial Conference play at Swarthmore next Saturday, Sept. 30 beginning at 1 p.m.
