Ryan McGarry rallied and went -10 under over the final 36 holes on Saturday to finish second overall. McDaniel as a team greatly improved from Friday, but it was not enough and they finished fourth with a score of 893 (+29).
Senior
Ryan McGarry started off the championship with a tough 81 in tough conditions due to the wind and rain on Friday. The decision was made to play the final 36 holes on Saturday to avoid more bad weather on Sunday.
McGarry started on hole number nine early on Saturday morning. He opened with a birdie, and built off of that with four more birdies over the first nine holes. He continued his stellar round with three birdies on the back nine to shoot the lowest score of the weekend (66) and jump up to third on the leader board.Â
With 18 holes to go,
McGarry opened round three with a bogey, but quickly regrouped and birdied two of the next four holes. Moving onto the back nine, he posted four more birdies to card a 68 and earn a second place finish for the Conference Championship.
Freshman
Charlie Dolan was in ninth place after a 79 on Friday.
Dolan started off slow on Saturday morning, but picked up steam and finished red hot with three birdies over the final four holes to post a 72.Â
Entering the final round, he continued his hot streak with three birdies on the first five holes. He added one more birdie and played par golf the rest of the way for a bogey-free round of 68 to move into sixth-place for the Championship.
Fellow freshman
Ethan Crabb posted the low score for McDaniel on Friday with a 77 (+5).
Crabb kept it steady over the final 36 holes on Saturday with a 76 in round two and a 78 in the final round with two birdies over the back nine in round three.
Crabb would finish tied for 19th.
Hogan Schulze rallied from a tough opening round on Friday (82) to post a solid 74 (+2) in the second round including four birdies.
Shulze added another pair of birdies over the final 18 holes and carded a 76 to finish tied for 22nd.
Sophomore
Dell Grieser also improved his score over all three rounds on the weekend. After an opening 82,
Grieser eagled the second hole of round two en route to a 78 (+6). He saved his best round of the day for the final 18, with a 74 including another eagle on the 12th hole just like round two. He moved up four spots to finish tied for 24th.Â
McDaniel as a team would post the second lowest round on the final 18, but Franklin & Marshall would get the team win with a score of 876 (+12). The Diplomats Jas Fuhrer posted a 213 to win the individual championship.
