GETTYSBURG, Pa. - McDaniel College women's lacrosse junior
Emma Miller became the program's single-season leader in draw controls as the Green Terror fell to No. 8 Gettysburg on road Wednesday, 22-6.
With eight draw controls, Miller set a new single-season, program record with 112, surpassing Lindsey Farrell who had 111 in 2018. Ranked second in team history with 274 for her career, Miller needs just 27 to set a new program record as well.
McDaniel (4-11, 1-7 CC) trailed by just one after the first quarter, but the Bullets scored 10 unanswered goals in the second quarter to take a 15-4 halftime lead.
After Gettysburg scored four goals in the game's first 3:19, the Green Terror responded with the next three-straight from senior
Acadia Noll, freshman
Julia Corry and freshman
Kat Thayer. Both teams would net a goal in the final minute of the quarter, including a second from Noll with just 19 seconds remaining.
Leading by one entering the second, the Bullets scored only 18 seconds in as they totaled four in the first four minutes. They also added their final tally of the quarter with just three seconds to play.
Gettysburg (13-3, 8-0 CC) out-shot McDaniel 14-2 in the second quarter while forcing nine turnovers as it built its 11-goal halftime lead.
Each team scored two goals in the third with the Green Terror netting two on three shots. McDaniel scored six goals on 10 shots through three quarters.
MIller accounted for both of the team's goals in the third, increasing her team-leading total to 31. She leads the team in goals (31), assists (13), points (44) and draw controls (112) this season.
The Bullets added another five unanswered goals in the fourth to provide the final margin.
Noll finished with two goals, two ground balls and two caused turnovers while Thayer added one goal, one assist, two ground balls and three draw controls.
Freshman
Caleigh Kohr made her 10th start of the season in goal and had six saves. Senior
Astrid Jensen made two.
The Green Terror conclude their season on Saturday at Washington College. Opening draw is at 1 p.m.
