CLEARWATER, Fla. - In a game that featured six ties and three lead changes, Albright scored three of the final four goals to pull away for a 14-12 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team on Wednesday.
The loss snapped a two-game win streak for the Green Terror (3-3) as juniorÂ
Emma Legacy and seniorÂ
Emily Sheppard combined for nine goals on the day.
Albright took an early two-goal lead in the first three minutes before the Green Terror responded with a pair of goals in a 30-second span. Freshman
Julia Corry notched assists on both goals to tie the game at 2-2.
With 9:31 mark left in the first quarter,
Legacy found the back of the net for her first goal to give McDaniel its first lead.
The Lions (4-2) quickly responded with an unassisted goal, but with three minutes left in the period, juniorÂ
Emma Miller found Sheppard for her third goal of the game to retake the lead for the Green Terror.
Leading 6-4 to start the second quarter, Albright quickly tallied a pair of goals to tie the game for the fourth time, 6-6.
McDaniel led 7-6 at halftime before Legacy scored two of the team's three third-quarter goals with seniorÂ
Acadia Noll scoring with just 24 seconds left to match the largest lead for the Green Terror, 10-8.
The Lions got one back at the very end of the third quarter before tying the game for the sixth and final time at 11-11. From there, Albright netted three of the game's final four tallies to provide the final margin.
Legacy totaled five goals while Sheppard added four. Corry also had four points with one goal and three assists.
With 10 draw controls, Miller now has 199 for her career, leaving her one shy of becoming the fifth player in team history to reach 200.
In addition to two goals, Noll added two ground balls, two caused turnovers and four draw controls. Senior
Astrid Jensen made five saves over the final 20 minutes, but suffered the loss in relief of freshman starter
Caleigh Kohr.
McDaniel returns to action next Wednesday, March 22Â against Juniata at Gill Stadium. Opening draw is set for 4 p.m.
