GETTYSBURG, Pa. - McDaniel College women's swimming senior
Ella Tomkins and sophomore
Amanda Thompson each totaled two second-place finishes as the team concluded the regular season on Saturday at Gettysburg.
Tomkins finished runner-up in the 100 and 200-yard butterfly while Thompson finished second in the 100 and 200-yard freestyle. She was also third in the 500-yard freestyle.
Tomkins posted a season-best time of 2:13.54 in the 200 fly, lowering her time by almost three seconds before she posted another season-best time in the 100 fly at 59.86 seconds. It was the first time this season she has been under one minute.
Thompson started her day by touching second in the 200 free with a time of 2:06.27 before finishing second in the 100 free in 57.38 seconds, just 0.56 seconds out of first. She later came in third in the 500 free with a time of 5:39.94.
Other notable finishes for McDaniel included senior
Emma Lindell who was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 12:52.72, junior
Abby Cook and freshman
Jane Walkinshaw who were second and third, respectively, in the 50-yard freestyle and sophomore
Tori McArthur was finished third in the 200-yard IM.
Cook was also third in the 200-yard backstroke.
McDaniel will has two weeks before it returns to Gettysburg for the 2023 Centennial Conference Swimming Championships which begin on Thursday, Feb. 16 and conclude on Sunday, Feb. 19.
