Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

McDaniel Falls at Randolph-Macon in First Road Game

ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon scored six-straight goals, including five unanswered in the third quarter as the Yellow Jackets posted an 17-11 victory over the McDaniel College women's lacrosse team Saturday at Day Field.

The Green Terror (1-2) outshot Randolph-Macon and forced 24 turnovers, but the Yellow Jackets got 18 saves from Emma Taylor and four goals each from Lilly Fowler and Evie McNeally in earning the win in their first-ever meeting with McDaniel.

In just her third career game, freshman Julia Corry led the Green Terror offensively with a career-high six points with three goals and three assists. Defensively, junior Michaela Reid had three ground balls and four caused turnovers while senior Kendall Gracie added two ground balls and three caused turnovers.

Corry had a hand in four of the team's first five goals with two goals and two assists as McDaniel trailed by only one, 6-5 with 8:17 remaining in the second quarter.

However, Kaleigh Mulligan scored on a free-position with 2:18 to play to give Randolph-Macon a 7-5 halftime lead.

Led by two goals and one assist from Fowler and two goals from McNeally, the Yellow Jackets (2-1) outscored the Green Terror 5-0 in the third to stretch their lead to seven, 12-5.

Back-to-back goals by junior Emma Miller and freshman Jordon Gambrill cut McDaniel's deficit to six with just under six minutes remaining in the fourth, but that would be as close as each team scored twice in the final four minutes.

Miller finished with two goals and six draw controls while Gambrill also scored twice and had four draw controls.

Freshman Caleigh Kohr made her first career start in goal and finished with five saves.

The Green Terror return to action next Saturday, March 4 when they host a non-conference contest versus Susquehanna at noon. The game will raise awareness and benefit the One Love Foundation. Founder and mother of Yeardley Love, Sharon Love, received her master's degree in Deaf Education from McDaniel in 1976.
