WESTMINSTER, Md. - Highlighted by three falls, two tech falls and one major decision, the McDaniel College men's wrestling team posted a 35-13 victory over Ferrum in the Dr. Sam Case Classic Sunday inside the Gill Center.

The Green Terror (1-0) posted their first dual meet win of the season in their first-ever match-up against the Panthers.

Ferrum jumped out to an 8-0 lead behind a tech fall at 125 pounds and a decision at 133. However, McDaniel would quickly take the lead, 12-8, after back-to-back falls by sophomore Ryan Athey at 141 and sophomore Thomas Monn at 149. Athey picked up his fifth win of the season, including his fourth by fall while Monn, currently ranked third in the nation by Open Mat, remained unbeaten in nine matches this season.

The wins were the first of seven-straight for the Green Terror who turned an eight-point deficit into a 30-8 lead after a tech fall by senior Jaedyn Harris at 197 pounds. Harris, ranked 12th nationally, is currently undefeated in four matches this season with three of those wins coming by tech fall.

After a first-period fall by sophomore Ryan Ohler in his first match at 165 pounds, sophomore Avery Cummings sealed the win for McDaniel with a major decision at 174, giving the team a 27-8 lead with just three matches remaining.

Junior Xavier Howard posted the team's first tech fall of the day with a convincing 16-1 decision at 157 pounds while junior Val Pryor edged out a 7-6 decision at 184. Howard picked up his eighth win of the season and his fourth by tech fall while Pryor tied Monn and Cummings for the team lead with his ninth win of the season.

The Green Terror return to action following the Thanksgiving holiday on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Blue Jay Classic hosted by Elizabethtown.
