Volleyball Falls to No. 8 Johns Hopkins at Home

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel hosted Johns Hopkins who is ranked eighth in the nation according to the latest AVCA Poll. The Blue Jays withstood an early Green Terror push to win the match in straight sets, 3-0.

McDaniel now sits at 10-10,1-6 CC on the season.

The first set opened with three quick lead changes. Hopkins struck first, then McDaniel responded with a kill from Kenzie Mitchell then an ace from freshman Hannah Waters. Another ace followed by a pair of kills from senior Nia Roberts kept the Green Terror in the lead. The largest lead of the game for McDaniel was 10-6, but the eighth-ranked Blue Jays rallied and scored six straight to jump in front 12-10. They kept up the momentum and won the first set 25-16.

An early 5-0 lead kept Hopkins on top in the second set. McDaniel capitalized on a few errors to climb back into the set. Angalyn Strouse and Roberts each had a kill and the set was tied at 7-all. Despite a late push by the Green Terror, the visitors pulled away to win the second set 25-13. As the third set began, Mitchell, Roberts, and Burgee each recorded a kill to keep McDaniel close. Hopkins then went on another six-point run to retake the lead and win the final set 25-14.
