GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Junior
Amanda Thompson totaled three top-10 finishes as the McDaniel College women's swimming team competed in a quad meet against Gettysburg, Swarthmore and Bryn Mawr Saturday at Gettysburg's Bullets Pool.
The Green Terror (1-3) fell to Swarthmore and Gettysburg by the same score of 219-32 and were edged by Bryn Mawr, 174-66.
Thompson posted the team's best finish of the day, placing sixth in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:36.75. She also finished ninth in the 200-yard individual medley with 2:26.58 and was a member of the 400-yard freestyle relay team along with senior
Abby Cook, sophomore
Jane Walkinshaw, and freshman
Reagan Farris that placed ninth in 4:09.12.
Thompson also finished 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Meanwhile, Cook had four top-10 finishes, two as an individual and two as a member of relay teams. Individually, she placed eighth in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:05.32 and 10th in the 200-yard backstroke with a mark of 2:27.13.
In addition to the 400 free relay, Cook was a member of the 200-yard medley relay team with Walkinshaw, Farris and sophomore
Mackenzie Skelton that touched the wall 10th in 2:10.00.
Skelton finished ninth in the 200-yard butterfly while Walkinshaw placed 10th in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:11.65. As an individual, Farris was 11th in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle.
McDaniel makes its home debut next Saturday, Oct. 28 when the team hosts Centennial Conference foe Washington College beginning at 1 p.m. inside Harlow Pool.
