WESTMINSTER, Md. - The McDaniel College volleyball team battled Haverford at home, but were unable to close the gap as the Fords went on to win in straight sets.
The first set began with with Haverford taking an early seven point lead. After three attack errors by the Fords, McDaniel (1-8, 0-2 CC) had cut the lead to four. The Fords stretched the lead back out to nine, but a kill from freshman

Allyson Burgee kept McDaniel within striking distance.Â
Haverford (7-4, 1-0 CC) responded with an eight point run, and pulled away for the 25-10 first set win.Â
Sophomore
Angalyn Strouse connected on a pair of kills early in the second set to give McDaniel the 4-3 lead. The Fords retook the lead with a run of their own. Freshman
Mackenzie Mitchell tallied two kills to keep McDaniel close. Junior

Meghana Manwadkar to tie the game at 11-all.Â
The Fords pushed forward and created a four point lead. Burgee kept it close with two more kills and the score was 20-18.
Burgee went back to serve and found an opening in the defense for an ace to tie the game at 20-all. Haverford rattled off three points, and secured the 25-22 win.
In the third set, Haverford took a four point lead. McDaniel tried to rally, but the Fords capitalized each time it looked like the momentum had swung back to the Green Terror. The Fords pulled away to win the third and final set 25-10.
McDaniel returns to action on the road at Washington College on Wednesday. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
