WESTMINSTER, Md. - Franklin & Marshall scored 21 first-quarter points en route to a 35-3 victory over the McDaniel College football team in a Centennial Conference contest Saturday at Rembert Field at Kenneth R. Gill Stadium.
The Green Terror (1-2, 1-1 CC) totaled three sacks and held the Diplomats to just 71 yards passing on eight completions, but were hampered by eight penalties and two turnovers which led to 14 points for the visitors.
After each team went three-and-out on its first offensive possession, Franklin & Marshall (2-1, 1-1 CC) drove 80 yards on 12 plays to score first when Aaron Rascoe scored on a six-yard pass from Logan Clouse. The touchdown was one of three on the day for Rascoe who finished with 120 yards of total offense, including 112 rushing.
The Diplomats doubled their lead just three plays later when Bobby Buchys intercepted a pass from sophomore
Eric Grinwis and returned it 16 yards for the score, giving F&M a 14-0 lead with 4:37 to play in the opening quarter.
After a personal foul penalty on the ensuing kickoff gave the Green Terror starting field possession at their own 21-yard line, Grinwis was intercepted for the second time before Dante Medlar returned it 43 yards down inside the McDaniel 20-yard line with just over two minutes left in the quarter.
Four plays later, Rascoe found the end zone for the second time on a 2-yard run to put the Diplomats in front 21-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Despite possessing the ball for 12 minutes in the second quarter and out-gaining the visitors, 75-16, the Green Terror managed just three points on a 28-yard field goal by senior
William Looney with two seconds remaining and trailed by 18 at halftime.
Franklin & Marshall added two more scores and totaled 184 yards of offense in the second half while the defense picked off one more pass and forced five McDaniel punts.
Grinwis completed 12 passes for 84 passes and sophomore
Jared Snow had seven completions for 78 yards. Graduate student
Dre Carter led the team with 32 yards rushing while junior
Bryce Mitchell had a team-high 34 yards receiving.

Mike Dunn each had eight tackles with Dunn adding 1.5 tackles for loss. Junior
Mamut Conteh had four tackles, including 1.5 sacks.
The Green Terror travel to Allentown, Pa. next Saturday, Sept. 24 to take on No. 18 Muhlenberg. The Mules fell on the road at Ursinus today, 35-28. Kickoff from Frank Marino Field at Scotty Wood Stadium is at 1 p.m.
