McDaniel methodically built a 20-point halftime lead en route to a 68-44 win over Bryn Mawr.
THE LEADERS
• Katie Klein (Port Charlotte, Fla./Imagine School at North Port) led the Green Terror with 15 points and four assists.
• Mallory Conroy (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) matched Klein with 15 points and also pulled down six rebounds.
FOR THE FOES
• Jessica Smith led the Owls with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
• Sydney Collins added seven points and 13 rebounds.
THE REST OF THE STORY
• Baskets from Meggie Burgess (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) and Katie Klein staked McDaniel to a 4-0 lead in the game's first 1:13. After an Ella Kolsen jumper, Klein converted a three-point play and Burgess added another jumper to push the lead to seven. A Julia Ryan (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendohowa) stretched the advantage to 16-4 with 4:15 to play in the opening quarter. The lead grew to 22-8 after 10 minutes.
• After a Jessica Smith jumper to open the second quarter, Mallory Conroy scored seven straight points and Jessica Weinoldt (East Petersburg, Pa./Hempfield) added two free throws for a 31-10 lead with 6:37 showing. A Ryan jumper extended the lead as large as 37-12 with 3:14 to play before Bryn Mawr scored the final five points of the half to make it a 37-17 game at the break.
• The Owls opened the third quarter on a 13-5 run to trim the margin to 12 with 4:52 remaining. Klein, however, hit a pair of baskets to close the period on a 5-0 run and stretch the lead to 49-32.
• Another Klein jumper on the opening possession of the fourth quarter made it a 19-point game once again. Smith responded with a triple to make it 51-32 but that's as close as Bryn Mawr would get in the quarter.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Meggie Burgess chipped in her fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and 13 rebounds.
• Josey Klingenberg (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) dished out 10 assists and recorded five steals.
