Tomkins places fifth in the 200 fly at championship meet

THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel qualified five individuals for the finals at the 2022 Centennial Conference women's swimming championship hosted by Franklin & Marshall. The Green Terror finished eighth with 97 points.

THE LEADERS
• On Saturday, Ella Tomkins (Tikokino, Central Hawke's Bay/Mercury Bay Area School) qualified for the 100 butterfly B-finals with a time of 1:02.40. She was 13th in the finals with a time of 59.77 seconds. On Sunday, she swam the 200 butterfly in prelims, qualifying sixth in the prelims with a time 2:13.53. She bettered that No. 2 time in program history in the A-finals with a mark of 2:12.95, missing the program record by 0.61 seconds. She touched fifth in the finals.
• On Friday, Amanda Thompson (Drexel Hill, Pa./Friends Central) qualified for the B-finals in the 500 freestyle (5:25.81). She placed16th in the finals with a time of 5:28.15.
• Hannah Cehelsky (Sudbury, Mass/Lincoln Sudbury Regional) finished seventh in the 1650 free with a personal-best time of 19:19.39.
Emma Lindell (Frederick, Md./Frederick) recorded a 13th-place finish in the 1650 with a time of 20:43.62.

FOR THE FOES
• Swarthmore won the team title for the first time since 2002 with 950.5 points, outdistancing second-place Gettysburg by 352.5 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• The 200 medley relay of Abby Cook, Amanda Thompson, Ella Tomkins, and Ashley Farrington finished eighth with a time of 1:57.83. The B-relay of Anna Petenbrink, Laura Midkiff, Emma Lindell, and Hannah Cehelsky took 15th with a time of 2:14.01.
• The 800 freestyle relay of Hannah Cehelsky, Amanda Thompson, Ashley Farrington, and Ella Tomkins touched eighth with a time of 8:21.64.
• The 400 medley relay of Anna Petenbrink, Laura Midkiff, Emma Lindell, and Hannah Cehelsky finished 16th with a time of 4:52.60.
• The 400 free relay of Amanda Thompson, Hannah Cehelsky, Ashley Farrington, and Ella Tomkins was seventh in a time of 3:46.91.

THE INSIDE STORY
Amanda Thompson finished the 200 freestyle with a season-best time of 2:06.10.
Laura Midkiff (Westminster, Md./Westminster) finished the 100 breaststroke with a season-best time of 1:29.90.
Anna Petenbrink (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) completed the 100 backstroke with a  season-best time of 1:19.72.
Abby Cook (Fredericksburg, Va./Chancellor) finished the 200 backstroke with a season-best time of 2:24.69.
