Weinoldt Capitalizes in Win Over Red Devils

WESTMINSTER, Md. - McDaniel played terrific defense and scored late on Senior Day to beat Dickinson.

On a chilly day the Green Terror (6-2-4, 4-0-2) celebrated Senior Day for Taylor Clawson, Kiersten Crowley, and Brianna Guarnieri. The opening minutes of the match took place near the midfield stripe as both teams failed to gain an advantage. As the half continued, Dickinson (6-5-1, 3-1-1) found their rhythm first and pressured the McDaniel defense.

In the 30th minute Dickinson had a pair of chances, but Katherine Carstensen was in perfect position and made the save both times. A few minutes later Samantha Rodrick found an opening an took a shot that was saved by the Dickinson keeper for McDaniel's lone shot of the half.

With the score tied at 0-0 coming out of the locker room, McDaniel turned up the intensity and attacked the Dickinson defense from the opening whistle. Two minutes into the period, Kiersten Crowley ripped a shot from the left corner of the box, and sent it just over the crossbar. Four minutes later Taylor Clawson beat her defender and took a shot that was saved by the Red Devils keeper.

The veteran back line of the Green Terror held Dickinson to just one shot in the second half. Graduate student Jules Dotterweich and senior Kiersten Crowley consistently beat the Red Devils players to loose balls, and controlled the possession for the final 45 minutes of action.

In the 70th minute Allison Storm lined up a corner kick for McDaniel. She played it short to Elaina Kluttz just outside the box. Kluttz turned and lofted a ball to Jessie Titus who's shot was deflected and bounced around the six-yard line. Jessica Weinoldt was able to gain possession and quickly turn her hips towards the goal. She placed the shot past the keeper to break the deadlock and tally her fourth goal of the season.

In the 79th minute, Olivia Moskunas found an opening and took a shot that was saved by the Dickinson keeper. After that, Dickinson tried to create more opportunities, but the Green Terror defense held firm and closed out the 1-0 victory to remain unbeaten in the Centennial Conference.

McDaniel returns to action on Wednesday at #4 Johns Hopkins. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 P.M.
