THE REST OF THE STORY
• After a back-and-forth start to the game, Mike Wallace hit a layup with 11:34 on the clock to break an 11-all deadlock and spark a 14-1 run over the next 7:26. Quinn Kimmick capped the stretch with back-to-back reverse layups. Trailing 29-14, Adrian Thomas snapped a 10-minute, 15-second drought from the floor. However, McDaniel finished the half on a 6-2 burst. Wallace drove and scored just before the buzzer to take a 35-18 lead into the break.
• With a 46-27 lead midway through the second half, a Charles Contee (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) steal-and-layup sparked 12-0 run in just 2 minutes, 21 seconds that pushed the lead above 30 for the first time with 6:17 to play. The lead remained between 28 and 31 points until a Kennedy Birdwell triple and Anthony Desruisseau jumper off a steal made it a 66-41 game with 1:50 to play. Cameron Etris' (Stevensville, Md./St. John's College) first collegiate 3-pointer set the final margin.
