The Muhlenberg defense limited McDaniel offensively to record a 42-34 win.
THE LEADERS
• Maddie Thompson (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) hit a pair of second-half 3-pointers to keep the Green Terror close and finish with six points.
• Ellie Connelly (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro) joined Meggie Burgess (Olney, Md./Good Counsel) and Mallory Conroy (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) with seven points each.

• Rachel Saxton led the Mules with 12 points to go with five steals.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Rachel Saxton hit a layup on Muhlenberg's first possession for a 2-0 lead. After a Mallory Conroy free throw and Amanda Gorski layup at the other end, Julia Ryan (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) caned a triple from the win to tie the game at 4-all with 7:08 on the clock. The Mules, however, responded with a 7-0 stretch over the next 4:42 to open up an 11-4 advantage. A pair of Meggie Burgess baskets around a Gorski layup to close to within 13-8 at the end of the quarter.
• An Emily Unger 3-pointer and Jenna Stockfeder layup in the first 46 seconds of the second quarter pushed the hosts' lead to 10. A Conroy jumper and four points from Ellie Connelly trimmed the deficit to 18-14 with 5:37 remaining en route to a 23-18 game at the break.
• Clinging to a 25-21 lead two-and-a-half minutes into the third quarter, Muhlenberg went 2-for-4 from the free-throw line and Saxton hit a jumper to push the lead to 29-21 with 4:14 remaining. Triples from Connelly and Maddie Thompson from opposite wings closed the margin to 29-27 with 2:39 on the clock before an Abigail Scheidel 3-pointer pushed the advantage back to five at the end of the third quarter.
• After just six total points in the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, Unger scored five straight points to open up a 39-31 lead with 2:57 to play. A minute later, Thompson drained a 3-pointer to close the deficit to five. A Scheidel layup stretched the lead back to seven with 1:12 remaining. A Saxton free free throw with 40 ticks left set the final margin.
THE INSIDE STORY
• The 34 points by McDaniel and 42 by Muhlenberg were the fewest in by each team in the all-time series.
• Josey Klingenberg (Hampstead, Md./Manchester Valley) finished with three assists, three steals, and five rebounds.
