THE SKINNY
McDaniel finished the game on a 17-3 run that included scoring 15 straight points over a 2-minute, 41-second stretch to rally and defeat Elizabethtown, 76-72.
THE LEADERS
• Charles Contee (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) led the Green Terror with a career-best 18 points – 12 of which came in the game's final 2:48. He went 9-for-10 from the free-throw line and added four assists and six rebounds.
• Dragan Hornatko (Baltimore, Md./Glenelg Country Day School) added 16 points and two steals.
• Carter Truby (Sykesville, Md./Century) and Josh Arruda (Morrisville, Pa./Pennsbury) added 10 points each.

• Rance Russo led the Blue Jays with 17 points and six rebounds.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Triples from Josh Arruda and Carter Truby keyed an 8-5 start for McDaniel in the first 3:12 of the game. Elizabethtown, however, got back-to-back Rance Russo layups to spark an 11-0 run that gave the hosts a 16-8 lead with 14:30 on the clock. The Green Terror got three 3-pointers from three different players over the next nearly three minutes to close to within 20-19. Two Jeong Hwang (Ellicott City, Md./Centennial) free throws with 5:29 on the clock gave McDaniel a 25-24 edge but the Blue Jays netted the next eight to go back in front by seven with 3:15 remaining in the opening half. The Green Terror closed to within 32-31 on a Dragan Hornatko 3-poiner with 1:30 to play but a Niko Georgelis bucket and Russo 3-pointer in the final minute gave Elizabethtown a 37-31 lead at the break.
• McDaniel netted seven of first 10 second-half points to trim the deficit to 40-38 with 17:34 on the clock. A 6-2 burst later in the half gave the Green Terror a 51-49 edge with 12:54 remaining but the Blue Jays responded with six straight points to take a four-point lead with 11:15 showing. After McDaniel closed to within 61-58 on a Hornatko three-point play with 7:16 to play, Elizabethtown answered with a 8-1 stretch to open up a 10-point lead with 3:18 to play.
• Contee, however, then took over. He trained a 3-pointer with 2:48 on the clock then connected on a driving layup on the next possession before completing the old-fashioned three-point play and make it a 69-65 contest. After forcing a second straight turnover, Truby hit a layup to make it a two-point game with 2:01 showing. Hornatko hit a 3-pointer from the left wing with 38.3 seconds showing to give the Green Terror a 70-69 edge. Contee then went 4-for-4 from the charity stripe before Ryan Fitzpatrick deep leaning 3-pointer from the top of the arc with 2.0 seconds left to draw the Blue Jays back within two. Contee, however, took the ensuing inbounds pass and made two more free throws to seal with the victory with 1.2 seconds on the clock.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Elizabethtown shot 59.1 percent from the floor but McDaniel connected on 10 of 24 attempts from long range and went 18-for-21 from the free-throw line.
• The Green Terror held the lead for fewer than three minutes of game time.
