THE SKINNY
Second-seeded McDaniel struck early and never looked back in a 3-0 victory over Swarthmore in one of the two Centennial Conference (CC) semifinals.

THE LEADERS
Hannah Schepers (Port Deposit, Md./St. Mark's) broke the career goal-scoring record for the Green Terror in the contest, scoring twice on the afternoon. She also had an assist to contribute in all three tallies.

FOR THE FOES
• Lillian Keller led the third-seeded Garnet with three saves.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• McDaniel capitalized on its first free kick of the contest. In the third minute, Hannah Schepers sent a ball to the post that deflected off a defender and to a crashing Isabela Soares (Monroe Township, N.J./Monroe Twp.), who knocked it into the back of the net for an early 1-0 lead.
• In the 29th minute, minute Maddie Schwartz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) found a streaking Schepers, who was able to head the ball into the left side of the net for her 41st career goal, tying the program record for goals.
• The Green Terror defense withstood early second-half pressure from Swarthmore. In the 79th minute, Olivia Moskunas (Bel Air, Md./ C. Milton Wright) dribbled past her defender down the sideline and found Schepers open outside the box. Schepers turned and blasted one nearside past an outstretched keeper to break the short-lived tie with Erin Murphey for career goals.

THE INSIDE STORY
• McDaniel outshot Swarthmore 8-4 on the afternoon while the Garnet held the edge in corner kicks, 6-3.
Katherine Carstensen (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) made two saves for her 10th individual shutout and the team's 15th overall this season.
• With the victory, the Green Terror advanced to its second CC championship game after also playing in the 2016 title game.

NEXT UP
The CC championship game will be played on Sunday at Johns Hopkins against the winner of Friday evening's other semifinal between the Blue Jays and fifth-seeded Franklin & Marshall. Game time is 3 p.m.
