Tuesday, Nov. 30
Where: Gettysburg, Pa.

THE SKINNY
Gettysburg built a 13-point lead after three quarters before staving off a fourth-quarter surge by McDaniel to capture a 57-52 victory.

THE LEADERS
Mallory Conroy (Ellicott City, Md./Marriotts Ridge) led the Green Terror with 15 points and nine rebounds. She also added four steals and two blocked shots.

FOR THE FOES
• Carly Rice led the Bullets with 21 points, including hitting five 3-pointers. She also pulled down six rebounds.
• Mackenzie Tinner added 10 points and nine rebounds.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• After Carly Rice and Ellie Connelly (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro) traded wing triples in the first 44 seconds of the game, Mackenzie Tinner hit a pair of layups – but missed both three-point opportunities – to give Gettysburg a 7-3 advantage and spark an 8-2 burst that opened up an 11-5 lead with 6:33 showing. Rice hit a 3-pointer to stretch the lead to as large as 20-11 but five points from Liliana Overcash (Bend, Ore./Mountain View) in the final 91 seconds of the period closed the margin to four.
• Two more Rice triples keyed an 8-2 start to the second quarter that stretched the advantage to 28-18 just 1:48 into the period. However, the teams combined for just eight points, including just one field goal by each team, over the remainder of the half to give Gettysburg a 32-22 lead at the break.
• Back-to-back jumpers from Ellie Glass (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove Area) and Mallory Conroy  closed the McDaniel deficit to 34-28 with 7:33 to play in the third quarter. Four straight points from Delaney Donohue to close the period, however, stretched the advantage to 47-34 at the end of the third quarter.
• The Green Terror netted 12 of the first 15 points in the fourth quarter to pull within 50-46 midway through the final period. A Julia Ryan (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) 3-pointer from the left wing with 4:06 on the clock trimmed the margin to just one. Christina Richson drove and hit a layup out of a Bullets timeout but missed the free-throw attempt that would have pushed the lead back to four. A single Mackenzie Tinner free throw with 40 ticks remaining gave Gettysburg a 55-51 edge. Out of a McDaniel timeout, Glass drew a foul with 36.1 seconds left and drained the first of two attempts to make it a one-possession game. Mackenzie Szlosek dribbled the first 20 seconds off the clock before pulling up for an elbow jumper and connecting with 11.0 seconds remaining to virtually seal the victory.

THE INSIDE STORY
• McDaniel limited Gettysburg to 5 of 14 shooting in the fourth quarter while going 7-for-14 from the floor in the attempted comeback.
• The Bullets finished with a 46-36 rebounding advantage, including 17 offensive boards that led to 17 second-chance points.
