THE SKINNY
 Carnegie Mellon netted a pair of first-half goals and held McDaniel off the scoreboard for a 2-0 win in the second round of the NCAA tournament.

 THE REST OF THE STORY
 • In the 24th minute, Carnegie Mellon's Cecelia Dieterich crossed a ball into the box, which deflected off a defender and back across the net for the game's first goal.
 • The Tartans added a second just shy of 14 minutes later when Helena Spencer found Alana Frederick streaking towards the goal. Frederick was able to power it home for the 2-0 lead.
 • McDaniel created a few opportunities in the second half but were unable to capitalize.
THE INSIDE STORY
 • Carnegie Mellon finished with a 12-11 edge in shots and 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
 • The Tartans, who held McDaniel scorless for just the second time this season, moves on to the NCAA tournament third round next weekend and will face MIT at a site yet to be determined.
