WESTMINSTER, Md. – McDaniel will host one semifinal of 2021 Centennial Conference (CC) women's soccer championship tournament on Friday. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
The second-seeded Green Terror (16-1, 9-1 CC) faces third-seeded Swarthmore (9-4-2, 6-3-1 CC) in one of the two semifinals. Top-seed Johns Hopkins (14-0-2, 10-0 CC) will host the winner of Tuesday's first-round game between fourth-seeded Gettysburg (11-3-2, 5-3-2 CC) and fifth-seeded Franklin & Marshall (11-3-2, 5-3-2 CC) in the day's other semifinal at 7 p.m.
The semifinal winners will advance to Sunday's championship game, which will begin at 3 p.m. in Baltimore.
The tournament's champion will earn the CC's automatic bid to the 2021 NCAA Division III tournament, slated to begin on Nov. 13. The NCAA field will be announced on Monday at 1 p.m.
The Green Terror is seeking its first conference title. It is the seventh tournament appearance for McDaniel. The Green Terror is also in search of its fifth NCAA tournament bid in the last seven seasons.
In the regular-season meeting between the Green Terror and Garnet, McDaniel rallied for a 2-1 win at Swarthmore on Oct. 2.
Senior Hannah Schepers (Port Deposit, Md./St. Mark's) leads the team with 12 goals and 28 points. Graduate student Maddie Schwartz (Lancaster, Pa./Hempfield) has six goals and is tied for the team lead with six assists for 18 points. Sophomore Allison Storm (Abington, Md./Harford Tech) also has six assists.
Senior Katherine Carstensen (Pearl River, N.Y./Pearl River) has a 0.20 goals-against average and .929 save percentage with nine solo shutouts. The defense has posted 14 shutouts in 17 games this season.
