THE SKINNY STORY
McDaniel had four wrestlers place in the top eight of their respective weight classes to help finish 11th at the NCAA Div. III Southeast regional tournament.

THE LEADERS
• Raymond Kable finished fourth at 149. His weekend started with a 6-0 loss to Michael Heinl (Washington & Jefferson) to fall to the consolation bracket. He topped Nic Korhonen (Southern Virginia) 14-3 and Nick Barnhart (Messiah) 8-6 to assure himself a spot on the podium. He added a 5-3 win over and Alex Winant (Washington and Lee) before advancing topping Gettysburg's Colin Devlin 8-1 in the consolation semifinals. In the third-place match, York's Eric Hutchinson won 9-8 to earn the bracket's final bid to the national tournament.
• Ryker Eckenbarger (Finksburg, Md./Westminster) placed fifth at 141 after earning the No. 4 seed. His weekend started with a 9-3 win over Ethan Landis (Lycoming). Bryce Crew pinned Eckenbarger early in the third period in the quarterfinal match. In the consolation bracket, Eckenbarger tallied a 9-4 victory to make it to the podium. On Saturday, his day opened with a 3-minute, 34-second fall over Jason Baker (Thiel) before falling to Averett's Brandon Woody 6-4 in the consolation semifinals. He earned a forfeit win in the fifth-place match.
• Tony Wuest (Smyrna, Del./Smyrna) opened his quest as the top seed at 197 with back-to-back pins. He started with a 4-minute, 38-second fall of York's Michael Reinhart before topping Wilkes' Moustafa Almeky with 52 seconds remaining. He dropped a 3-1 decision in the semifinals before medically forfeiting to sixth place.
• Alexander LaVeck (Marriottsville, Md./McDonogh) finished eighth at 157. He started in the pigtail with a 1-minute, 23-second fall of York's Timothy Sparks. In the main bracket, he pinned Tony Blackman (Averett) in 2:44 before Ryan Luth (Washington and Lee) notched a 16-1 technical fall 15 seconds into the third period. LaVeck topped Wilkes' Liam Flaherty with a fall midway through the second period. He then was pinned by Johns Hopkins' Bradlee Lamontagne in 2:20 and lost an 8-2 decision to Ray Martin (Gettysburg) in the seventh-place bout.

FOR THE FOES
• The Green Terror finished with 56.5 points.
• Stevens won the title at the 20-team regional with 163.5 points.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Nick Malinowski (Baltimore, Md./Boys' Latin School of Maryland) was pinned by Messiah's Sean Redington 58 seconds into the second period of the opening bout. Malinowski then pinned Gettysburg's Ethan Greenburg in 1:12 before Jared Kuhns notched an 18-2 technical fall in the third period.
• Steven Pabon (Long Branch, N.J./Long Branch) started in the prelims of the 133 bracket with a 5-minute, 42-second fall of Washington & Jefferson's Anastasi Nelson. In the main bracket, Kordell Rush (Delaware Valley) recorded a pin late in the first period then Jake Alberts (Thiel) recorded a 7-0 decision.
• Michael Bromley (Mt. Airy, Md./Linganore) dropped a 6-2 decision to Hunter Neely (Washington & Jefferson) in the first match at 174. Bromley then recorded a 7-3 win over Stefan Major (Stevens) before falling to Johns Hopkins' Joe Paul 6-4 in the first sudden-victory period.
• Gabe Dennis (Snow Hill, Md./Snow Hill) recorded a 58-second pin in the prelims to move into the main bracket at 184. He then was pinned by George Moseley (Averett) in 1:49 and fell to Ferrum's Demontay Wimbush, 16-2.
