THE SKINNY STORY
York (Pa.) had the final say in a back-and-forth battle with McDaniel for a 3-2 victory in the final match of the Battlefield Classic. The Spartans took the opening set 25-19 before the Green Terror captured set two, 26-24. York responded with a 26-24 win of its own before McDaniel forced a fifth set with a 25-13 victory. The Spartans won the deciding set, 15-13.

THE LEADERS
• Gayle Edelstein (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) led the Green Terror with a career-high 47 assists to go with six digs and an ace.
• Anna Jezerski (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) added a career-high 21 kills while chipping in 12 digs and four blocks.
• Marlowe Embry (San Jose, Calif./J.H. Pitman) added 16 kills, 23 digs and five aces.
• Kendall Hanak (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Cheyenne Mountain) led the defense with 23 digs.
• Abigail Hernandez (Gaithersburg, Md./Richard Montgomery) added 10 kills.

FOR THE FOES
• Emily Pupo led the Spartans with 33 digs.

THE INSIDE STORY
• Marlowe Embry was named to the all-tournament team.
