THE SKINNY STORY
Vassar outscored McDaniel 15-4 in the first 4:44 of the second half to turn a four-point halftime edge into a 15-point lead en route to an 88-55 win in the opening round of the CUNY Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament hosted by Lehman.

THE REST OF THE STORY
• Greg Scarborough (Halethorpe, Md./Lansdowne) started the game with five straight points before Mike Wallace hit the first of two free throws for a 6-0 McDaniel lead just 1:53 into the game. Kevin McAuliffe canned a 3-pointer with 17:45 on the clock to cut the deficit in half. A Stephen Lang (Gaithersburg, Md./Poolesville) triple stretched the Green Terror lead to 16-7 with 13:45 showing in the first half. Trailing 25-17, a Zach Bromfeld tip-in with 7:36 on the clock sparked a 12-2 run over the next 4 minutes, 6 seconds gave Vassar its first lead of the game. After a Caleb Johnson 3-pointer made it a 35-34 game, McAuliffe responded with a triple of his own to stretch the Brewers' lead to four at the break.
• Vassar rode that momentum into the second half, outscoring McDaniel 15-4 over the first five minutes and 32-8 over the first 12 minutes, of the stanza. The Brewers lead over the final eight minutes remained between 26 and 36 points en route to the 33-point victory.
THE INSIDE STORY
• Vassar outscored McDaniel 53-17 from 7:36 remaining in the first half until 8:08 to play in the second half. The Green Terror held a 38-35 edge over the remaining 20:32 of game time.
• Greg Scarborough added seven points and seven rebounds for McDaniel.
