THE REST OF THE STORY
• Kills from Isabel Paci, Marlowe Embry and Emma Lorenzen (Hagerstown, Md./South Hagerstown) staked McDaniel to a 4-1 lead in the first set. The Green Terror lead remained between two and four points until a Paci knockdown made it 20-15 en route to a 25-17 victory.
• Three Ariana Pena kills helped Neumann jump out to a 7-2 lead in the second set. Back-to-back Embry kills, however, closed the deficit to 7-4. Trailing 10-6, McDaniel scored 10 of the next 12 points to turn the tables and lead, 16-12. The Knights closed back to within 19-18 and eventually tied the set at 20-all. Kills from Embry and Gayle Edelstein and an Edelstein ace gave the Green Terror a 23-20 lead en route to a 25-22 victory.
• The third set featured seven ties and five lead changes. Trailing 12-8, Neumann put together a 13-1 run to take a 21-13 advantage en route to a 25-21 victory.
• Tied at 2-all in the foruth set, a Pena ace keyed a 7-1 Knight run. McDaniel closed back to within 16-14 on back-to-back Embry kills but could get no closer in a 25-18 Neumann win to force the deciding set.
• The fifth set featured eight ties and six lead changes. Tied at 12-all on an Embry kill, Neumann took a 13-12 edge on a service error before Melanie Malseed and Embry traded kills to give the Knights match point. Embry, however, tied the set at 14-all before a pair of errors sealed the 16-14 final.
