THE REST OF THE STORY
• The teams traded the lead 10 times to go with five ties in the first 20 minutes. Neither team led by more than three points until back-to-back Josh Sproul (Princess Anne, Md./Washington Academy) layups and a jumper from Caleb Johnson accounted for a 6-0 run that turned a 21-19 deficit into a 25-21 lead with 6:10 to play in the opening half. Back-to-back George Gordon layups tied the game at 27-all with 3:14 remaining in the half. Two Eric Williams free throws and one from Lucas Olshevski in the final 44 seconds gave Ursinus a 30-27 edge at the break.
• Williams canned a triple just 23 seconds into the second half but Aaron Washington responded with a 3-pointer of his own and Johnson scored four straight points to give the hosts a 34-33 edge before two minutes had elapsed in the period. Trailing 40-36, five straight points from Washington put the Green Terror back in front with 13:39 showing. • Five straight Ursinus points closed the margin to 53-47 before the teams traded points over the next three minutes. Two Shane Stark free throws and a Bruce Edwards three-point play drew the game even with 3:47 on the clock. A Hughes three-point play on the next Bear possession put the visitors back in front. Johnson slammed home a fast-break outlet to cut the margin to 66-65 but McTamney drained a 3-pointer to push the lead back to four with 75 seconds remaining.
• Washington drove to the basket and scored to make it a 71-69 game with 33.4 seconds left and Wallace poked away the ball to give McDaniel a chance after a timeout with 19.3 seconds remaining.
