Titus fires three shots

Box Score

TOWSON, Md. – Goucher netted the game's lone goal in the 85th minute to topple McDaniel 1-0 in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday.

Allie Titus (Frederick, Md./Gov. Thomas Johnson) ripped off three shots, including a pair on goal, for the Green Terror (7-2), who outshot the Gophers (4-3-2) by a 15-5 margin.

Sarah Naughton scored the only goal of the game for the hosts. After Goucher had a couple of opportunities over the previous 15 minutes, a ball cycled to the top of the box on a corner kick in the 85th minute. Naughton controlled it and blasted a shot into the upper-right corner of the net.

McDaniel had a solid opportunity in the final minute but was whistled for an offside call.

Freshman Sydney Kelly (Windsor, Pa./Eastern York) made a pair of saves in her first collegiate start.

The Green Terror, who had its seven-game winning streak snapped, also held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Christina Charikofsky made seven saves in goal for the Gophers.

McDaniel returns to action at home against Washington (Md.) on Saturday. Game time is 11 a.m.
